Hallo:

Before loosing a long time… can any tell me if is possible to install VMWare Server on OpenSuse 11.3?

I’ve been searching for some answers… slightly confused
Vmware 7 doesn’t install on Opensuse 11.3
I will give it a try.
But I try on VMWare Server (1.x or 2.x) not Workstation so probably answer will be different.
The short answer is “no”.
Long answer: The VMware server product has not been working on openSUSE for two years IIRC, except for fixes and patches devised by gifted geeks working independent of VMware. I don’t anticipate the VMware developers fixing the sitation any time soon. The VMware server product in Linux is a dud, a complete dud, forget it.
But Virtual Box does work. The whole process is quick and slick. The Oracle/Sun product is streets ahead of VMware for openSUSE.
If the requirements are only virtualization for testing and/or some machines
which do not need to be started automatically vmpware player 3 is very
simple to install on opensuse (I run it on 11.2 and 11.3) and works well.
If one needs really an environment which needs automatization it is maybe
better looking at xen.
