Hi all,
I am interested in acquiring a Canon MP620 printer scanner. I am looking at the printer list from linux.com, and I don’t see it there. Wondering if it works really good with Opensuse.
Thanks,
Heeter

Have a look here -> Pixma MP600 MP610 MP620 MP630 Linux Cups | Download Pixma MP600 MP610 MP620 MP630 Linux Cups software for free at SourceForge.net
There would seem to be PPD files for this printer available. Also here - >Computers and Airplanes: How to use the Canon PIXMA MP620 with Kubuntu 8.10
which gives instructions, albeit under Ubuntu, but it should get it going.
Awesome find!!!
Thanks a million, will give it a go when I get the printer.
Thanks again,
Heeter
I had a Canon MP160 working through Canon Japan website if of any use.
Usually drivers are for 32 bit Linux distributions, so you need to do this:
Copy the driver file located in /usr/lib/cups/filter to /usr/lib64/cups/filter
And it Should work !
Canon MP620 is NOT supported by OpenSUSE 11.3 out-of-the box. I have a MP600 and it used to work with OpenSUSE 10.3, but after I upgraded to 11.3, it was no longer supported. I was able to get it working by downloading some RPM packages and doing some tricky install and configuration work. See my post here at:
Canon MP600 driver missing in OpenSUSE 11.3
So, with a little effort, you should be able to make it work.
Thanks bud,
Heeter
