Does anyone think that “Windows Media Player” look somewhat
like Amarok or Banshee? Check it out…

Or is this just the new trend?

All that has changed is that it’s incorporated into Explorer. I wouldn’t say it’s copying anything.
Don’t all mediaplayers look alike? Can’t really avoid it either tbh.
Then again… I don’t look at media players a lot, just give me “add directory”, fast finding of a song and hotkeys.
Well, I don’t think Windows could ever establish a Linux look… with multiple desktops, ect.
They will never be Linux, but you know, the same type of theme…
Any thoughts?
looks more like windows media player 11 with a slightly new look
I really don’t know why people always have to compare and wonder if things look the same as windows or linux. Gets tired when people constantly try to pick holes.
erm, weren’t Microsoft ordered by both the US high court, and the European high court to stop bundling software (especially the media player) due to anti competition laws?
Microsoft also committed perjury and lied to the US court and told them that it was “impossible” to separate “media Player” from their Windows “operating system”, then went ahead and separated it in the EU versions!
Integrating their “Media Player” into the “Explorer” monster would once again highlight their willingness to give the finger to the laws of every country they peddle their filthy wares in!
Well, personally, I think Microsoft is a trashy company as a whole…
and again this is just my opinion, so no one has to act brave and stand up for them (as they always do)
But, whatever, Microsoft was going to be split up until Bush’s election, what goes to plan anyway, huh?
I try to stay away of their products all the time, I keep my eyes peeled for the little buggars…
Not really. Microsoft still ships there “N” versions sans media player.
However I think I misspoke earlier. I don’t think it was incorporated into Explorer so much as it looks like the UI is identical to the explorer interface.
well yes it does look a bit like Banshee or Rhythembox, but lets face it grids/lists/trees are really the only way of showing long lists, and media players tend to need to show long lists files.
“Cover flow” broke the mould a bit, but actually isn’t very good to use, grids/lists/trees are probably better.
