I am interested in installing OpenSUSE 11.0 on a new laptop (MSI Wind) and also have a MSI Wind PC that I plan on installing Ubuntu on.
My question: I have heard that OpenSUSE 11.0 does not do 3D well and that it’s just experimental. Is this true? If so, is it being worked on for future versions? Also, does OpenSUSE work well with printer setups? I prefer to use OpenSUSE but the person that told me the above things suggested I use Mandriva instead but am looking here for additional advice.
SuSE does 3D just as well as any other distro. It’s just right now Nvidia is pooping out on their linux drivers, but that’s across the board of distros.
I have set up my printer just fine with suse 11.
In fact I feel that SuSE is in general the easiest distro to set up simply because of the highly advanced Yast tool.
SuSE, especially SuSE 11, is a pretty safe bet in my book.
