Does anyone know about the latest security update?

I just had an update come up on the updater. It was some sort of security update that’s all remember. I clicked OK to install the reason I’m asking is I usually get a password prompt for these, but this time I didn’t. Is there something wrong here?

Same thing happened on my wifes laptop…strange.

One came in this morning, but it prompted me for a password. It was a
python update IIRC…

I’m hoping it wasn’t somebody that has hacked or other wise faked the suse update system.:frowning:

Are you using sudo to run programs as root?
If so, iirc, aftrer you used sudo to do some stuff as root your password
stays active for about 15 minutes.
So within those 15 minutes you won’t be promted for a password when trying
to do something as root.
Maybe you did something as root just prior to the update?

Yes thanks for reminding me! Yes I just installed a font & to get that available across the system I was prompted for root. The updater came on right after I put the font(Utah MT) into the places I wanted. It wasn’t even 5 minutes,whew! good to see my concerns were unwarranted!

Possibly but as far as i know the only roots she knows are vegetables rotfl!
No I’m being mean here will ask her when she wakes up

The first time you try to run updates I believe it lets your add a user
as privileged for that specific task (updates in your case). Perhaps it
doesn’t need a password for those users. Just a thought…
