Does any know what decent but not over priced NVIDIA cards work native in openSUSE 11.3

Just want to know what good but not over priced NVIDIA cards work native in openSUSE 11.3 or at least have working 3rd party drivers. I primarily use OpenSUSE and other distributions for servers. Now I would like to move all my systems over to OpenSUSE for standard desktop and gaming support, so I would like to know what graphics cards are fully supported at least with hardware acceleration (D3D, OpenGL, etc).

Thanks for your help!

you might want to define what kind of games you need supported and what kind of money you’re willing to spend

note that sometimes the Nvidia drivers lag support for the latest cards so you might want to check NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search first

Thanks for your reply.

I realize there is a lag time for the lastest greatest graphics cards, that is why I was posting this. I wanted to know what cards others have had success with that will meet my performance needs. I was looking at something like the GTX 460. That card is not super new, but has plenty of power for my needs. It is in the $200 range.

my GeForce FX5500 does all i ask of it…and, you can probably find
one of them in a discarded computer trash heap somewhere…

well “over priced” is relative

I would would think you’d be more than fine as the 5xx series is now out (?), would point out that the 260 driver series for 11.3 32bit has had issues (there’s a thread here on it)

you could search/post here, not sure its official or not but it is pretty active NVIDIA Linux - nV News Forums

any mid range card will do
I myself do not do much FPS games so a very high end is not needed
a gts 240 is fine
