Document size incorrect

Have just installed Lexmark s605 printer on wireless network, printer works ok but when i print a document even though it is showing the correct size on ‘print preview’, the printed output is on the page is tiny and and 90deg rotated, I’ve tried various drivers from the Lexmark website, and also messing about in printer settings but nothing seems to make any difference.

Any ideas.

Thanks

I suggest you check out your CUPS setting (In Firefox the address: http://localhost:631/) or in KDE you go to menu / Utilities / Printing / Manage Printing. Select the Administration Tab then the Manage Printing Button. Select your printer from the listing (even if only one) then the Administration Button and Set Default Options. There should be a pull down list under the heading of Media Size. Make sure it states Letter or what ever size you have. Then Press the Set Default Options Button. You will be asked the Root user Name and Password to execute the change. Now see if your printer will work properly for paper.

Thank You,

Tried that, no change, Does my printer have to be controlled through CUPS, all I want is a local wireless printer, i dont want all this cups stuff, it just complicates things.

CUPS is part of the openSUSE Linux installation by default. However, in the end of the day, the printer and printer driver determine what will and will not work. You need to see what options are stored in the printer and change them if possible to the correct paper size.

Thank You,
