DockbarX install redundant?

I am running 11.4, and I just installed the DockbarX from someone’s personal home brew on the software website (sorry, I forgot the name). Instructions say to add the DockbarX Applet to the gnome menu, which I did. However, it seems DockbarX does not take over the taskbar. Images of DockbarX that I have seen online make it look like a real Windows 7 taskbar. But mine is just an additional bar (or maybe more like tray area) that makes the whole menu redundant. Am I missing something? Is there something I need so that DockbarX is the default taskbar and it takes over from gnome menu/taskbar?
