Do you zoom your fontsize?

This is kind of a silly question, but it bothers me a little.
If i use the normal font size for webpages, everything is kinda small, but if i increase the size, the page does not fit anymore and all objects are misplaced (at least some).

Any of you zoom the fonts for webpages and if so what size works for you?

My eyesight used to be better, but now i have a harder time reading everything in small or ‘normal’ size on screen.

I sympathize with you on this subject. I also have issues reading online text sometimes. I think you have to search for a font you find readable, I have set Force Fonts to 120 dpi in KDE font setup and went for a 24 inch monitor. That does not help so much for a laptop, but bigger letters help everywhere. I think you get used to seeing text auto rearrange for the bigger size that you select and it bothers you less when the option is not being able to read it at all.

I have my browsers minimum font size set to 12 pixels, but allow documents to select other fonts.

Only zoom if necessary.

I’ve only used zoom for two reasons:

1: I accidently hit a key combination in firefox;
2: I’m testing something for my wife (but probably using IE on Windows in that case).

My eyesight is not what it used to be, but I am not having that particular problem.

Yeah, I use custom font sizes and custom fonts. 15 pixels in FF, which approximately matches 11 pixels in KDE Systemsettings. That may seem a little large to some, but I have exceptionally good eyes and would like to keep them.

And as to custom fonts … I think I can best decide which fonts look nice and readable. And I have, thank you.

ETA: I just wish that there were more webpages that can successfully adapt to larger fonts and not break down into a heap of trash. Ohhhh …

I also zoom the font on some websites. System-wise I have just increased the font size in Konqueror by 1 step.

If I need zoom, I just press ctrl and + and have it bigger. The site nearly always still fits then. No scrolling sidewards necessary.

konqueror is ideal for this, in khtml mode. <ctrl><+/-> zooms only the
font, while <ctrl><mousewheel> zooms the whole page. the other browsers i
use zoom the whole page, according to their specific recipes, and often
things get garbled. rarely in konqueror.

In Firefox View > Zoom > Zoom Text Only.

Some websites have a Javascript setting that prevents graphics zoom beyond the width of the screen. If they do, they also normally have an option to tell Javascript to allow zoom beyond screen size. On one site I use the icon is like an elongated H when it is on and a double headed arrow when it is not. Interestingly, when I first encountered this problem, I was able to overcome it by changing to WebKit view mode but I’m not sure if that was because WebKit was less developed at that point.

What does actually make sense? Increasing the font size or zoom? In firefox the fontsize is 16, isn’t?

For webpages i use at the moment 110% which is a good compromize.

I am on a larger monitor and I increase the font size in Firefox. It breaks some pages but I have older eyes. If there is a better way to do this I am all ears. I have my minimum font size set to 14 in preferences.

I use crtl++ to increase the size of the web pages in FireFox and those work in other browsers.
Turn off the “text only zoom” and the whole web page is expanded.
Crtl-- decreases the entire web page and crtl-0 resets the web page to original size.

Crtl++/-- also sets the zoom for the next set of web pages that opened.

My Firefox preferences I use 16 with the minimum 14, but forum posts are still tiny.

Holding the shift+mouse scroll works in the file management applications.
