Do I have the proper driver installed?

Hi!

I purchased a laptop a while back. Now I’m using openSUSE 11.4, and wintendos 7 for gaming. The thing battering me is that I don’t know whether I have the right drivers installed or not. How do I check what drivers I have installed?

I concerned because the fan is running top rpm all the time when I boot in openSUSE. (This makes me reluctant to do so.)

lsmod will give you the list of kernel modules loaded on your system.

What is your hardware configuration? That’ll help someone trying to help
you identify what drivers you should have installed.

The laptop is a envy 15-1195eo… I couldn’t really find a decent specification list on the net.

This doesn’t say anything about the exact hardware. I see that ‘radeon’ is loaded for the videocard, but since we do not know which card it is, we cannot tell whether the ATI Catalyst driver would provide better performance, or less fan activity.
So, please open a terminal window, invoke command below and post output here:


glxinfo | grep renderer

That doesn’t bring me, what I wanted to see :). Could you post output of


lspci

as well? We’d have to find out the model of the ATI card to be able to help you
