DNS not working in browser, but ping works

Originally after an installation of openSUSE 11.4, I had no internet connection at all, even when connecting with ethernet cable. But then I tried switching back to YaST and then back to Network Manager, and restarted a couple times, and now I have internet connection. DNS is also working, for Ping. The problem is that firefox does not use DNS and cannot resolve host names. I can use Firefox with IP numbers. I appreciate any help you can provide to troubleshoot this problem.

I have also had DNS problems in the past. You can add DNS servers to just your PC or you can add them to your local router, if you have more than one PC. Since I have Road Runner and more than one PC, I elected to add the DNS servers to my local router. If you use the NetworkManager, you must disable it long enough to insert the DNS servers or create a specific wired and or wireless configuration. My router was just the best place to do this.

Here is a listing of DNS servers I have found and I am just using Google Myself.

Thank You,

I found this web page that suggested turning off ipv6 in Firefox. That fixed it. I guess my Motorola 3347 router isn’t equipped to handle ipv6 from Firefox.
