I think you should use mdadm - IMO.
Both types are in fact software raid. The difference is that in the case of
bios, fake raid, the bios is able to read from the array sufficiently to
boot the operating system. Once loaded, the system takes over, but for this
it needs a special driver. The obvious advantage is that it works in both
windows and linux; but in linux the plain software raid is just as fast
(nothing is really processed in hardware, like in a real, transparent,
hardware raid), and you can switch hardware when you like.
I’m confused as to what you are finally using, re your other thread about
crashes.
