I want to build a appliance which contents two desktops: KDE as default and GNOME as alternative desktop for choosing. How can I do it? I want that the user can choose the desktop before he or she install it on his/her harddrive.
That is easy enough. Just install opensuse and in the installer choose one
of the desktops (by default it is kde if you use the dvd to install).
After your installation has finished and you logged into your desktop the
first time (and installed all the online updates) go into yast software
management and install the second desktop.
View the patterns in yast (it is a combo box at the top left which shows by
default “search”) and click the pattern gnome desktop environment.
You can always choose which one to start in the login manager, nothing
special to configure here.

@martin_helm: I think you missed OP’s intentions. I understand he wants to create an appliance with openSUSE Studio, i.e. a install CD/DVD that installs both KDE and Gnome, the installer should give the user the choice whehter to install KDE or Gnome.
Cannot be of much help here, though. My experience with Studio is almost zero.

> @Knurpht: I think you are right, sorry for the misunderstanding, the OP
certainly wants advise about doing this with studio. Since I cannot help
with that I apologize for the misunderstanding and leave that thread here.

In studio just add the patterns for as many desktops as you want. The os will automatically give you the option to choose which desktop you want to use when you reach the login screen. Do not choose the auto log in feature if you want to switch desktops before log in.
