For some reason or the other, after some time the graphics on my computer becomes distorted. I had this issue before reinstalling my operating system, I thought that reinstalling the operating system would fix these issues, but they still remain. Also, I never encountered this issue before upgrading from openSUSE 11.2 to openSUSE 11.3. Of course, restarting my computer fixes this issue.
An example of what I am talking about can be found here:

Thank you for your help.

Are you able to still use the computer when the graphics are distorted or does everything freeze?
I am still able to use the computer. Nothing freezes, but sometimes, the graphics “distort” right before my eyes and there is a slight pause.
Also, this distortion affects applications such as Okular. However, when I refresh the document within Okular, the distortion disappears. The distortion very rarely affects OpenOffice.

Have you done all updates? What KDE version are you running? - You can find out KDE version by doing:
kded4 --version
in Konsole
Also post
zypper lr -d
The system that I installed used KDE 4.4.4, but still had the errors. I thought that upgrading to KDE 4.5 would fix them, but it did not. I have not done all the updates, and I plan to do one after posting this message. Therefore, the following will have the unupdated information of my system.
kded4 --version
Qt: 4.6.3
KDE Development Platform: 4.5.5 (KDE 4.5.5) "release 1"
KDE Daemon: $Id: kded.cpp 1156841 2010-07-29 19:59:05Z zander $
zypper lr -d

Hmmm this is beyond me. Everything looks in order :dont-know:
i’m gonna go out on a limb with this one… I’d say it is a hardware problem., I’d check the monitor and cables first, Do you have another system to use with that monitor?
Also i’d check the display adaptor, if you have another that you can swap with this one and see if the problem persists…
AdmiralFubar, the machine is a laptop, so I do not think that I can do that.
You can boot from an Ubuntu live CD (for example) and play a little bit with it for a couple hours - since you said in your first post that it happens “after some time”. What you described would also tip me off that it could be a hardware (overheating) problem.
