Display crash of LiveCd KDE 11.1

Hi all,

My last os was os10.2, installed via dvd

Now I wanna goto 11.1 via live cd kde

But, the display never shows up on my intel D845-GVSR, board with Philips 13incn 104E model. Well it just seems to hang up, though keyboard keys are working. I have to reset the machine.

Well os10.2 had some display issue too. I resolved it via using init 3 level instead of default 5. Then startx…

POINT: This issue never came on win2k without any special monitor drivers installed.

I checked my Monitor via another ASUS board, well it displays but blinks after a few minutes. Blinks in fashion of closing left n right edges come to each other. But still displays. Error persists even after installation.

How can I use the driver config of ASUS board for my intel board so that the Live Session runs?

Do I have to stay in os10.2?

Adios…

I have tried textmode, vga mode, vesa mode at the LiveCD startup, but to no avail.

Just as the livesession is to start the display is hung up?

The md5sum of the installation media is correct.

Waiting!!! :\

I’ve downloaded the KDE4 livecd yesterday. I get just the console login, but with

startx

the kdm login screen loaded fine.

Thanks for reply.

Are u also having a D845 intel board?

My display (text or visual) never appears on the live CD. How can I use startx?

No, i’m not using intel board.
When you boot from the livecd add the grub option:

runlevel 3

. This will bring up the text-based login for you. Now log in with normal user, switch with

su

to root. Now type

init 5

. This should bring up the login screen for you.

It goes something like this for me:

F3 in 1024x768

boot: runlevel 2
Login: linux
su
init 5

The init 5 doesnt works.

So I copied the xorg.conf of os102 into that one of liveCd, but cant find display

I retry by copying whole of the /etc/X11 folder into X11 of liveCd, but still it give me no display for:

startx
init 5

The display isnt working

Well I tried to copy the outputs of startx as:

For copying only xorg.conf of os102 into that of liveCd

startx

I coudnt manage to put the output of init 5 into a text filem, so it cant be here.

I hope theres a way around.

Is there any way I can retrieve packages out from the os11.1 KDE Live Cd, so that I may use NET Cd to install?

I have tried putting both Cds into two drives on the machine, but the NEt Cd cannot retrieve out repos from the LiveCD. It does reads it for some time.

The packages are stored in a readonly file of I dont know which format.

Is there a way?
