Discover does not seem to show packages from official repositories

Hi, first time user of openSUSE. Appreciate if anyone can help with some quick questions that I can’t seem to find a straight answer online, maybe due to my limited googling skills

  1. Yast does not show Flatpak packages. To manage flatpak packages, use Discover. Is this correct? Assuming we are just talking about GUI package manager.

  2. Discover does not seem to show packages from official repositories. E.g. search for “nagios” and “nginx” in Discover yield no result. Is there any configuration required for Discover to show packages from official repositories?

  3. Is there a GUI package manager that can manage packages from official repositories and flatpak?

Thank you and very much appreciate any advice!

Yes.

Discover does not work with packages - it works with Applications (Application may consist of multiple packages). I do not think you can manage individual packages in Discover.

Thank you so much for the information. Separately, I tried adding community repositories in Yast by following the steps below:

  1. Open YaST
  2. Select Software
  3. Select Software Repositories
  4. Click Add
  5. Select Community Repositories
  6. Click Next

I always get an empty list (unlike what I saw in YouTube video showing a list of community respositories).

Any tip on what may have gone wrong?

Thank you!

YaST gets additional repositories from https://opensuse-community.org/openSUSE_Tumbleweed_Community_Additional.xml. Can you access this link?

I cannot access the page.

Hmmm… can’t reach this page

opensuse-community.org took too long to respond

Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Neither can I, although Is it down? Check at Down for Everyone or Just Me claims the site is available. May be it affects only some regions.

Can’t open it too : curl: (28) Failed to connect to opensuse-community.org port 443 after 133507 ms: Could not connect to server

http://opensuse-community.org/ loads for me from SE USA.
