Disabling password on resume from suspend

I’ve set up a media box for mythtv based on OpenSUSE 11.3 and LXDE.

By default, the screen gets locked prior to a suspend. On resume, therefore, the screen is locked and requires a password to unlock.

I need to disable this action.

In KDE4, I can do that by going to the power management settings and un-selecting the appropriate check box.

In LXDE, however, I can find no such settings. There must be a config file somewhere that I can tweak to turn off the screen lock prior to suspend, but I have no idea what it is.

Can anyone help? I’ve also left a similar post on the LXDE forums.

I think the easiest way is to disable screen locking in the screen saver settings.

LXDE uses xscreensaver which appears to lock the screen by design if enabled.

man xscreensaver-command

man xscreensaver

Thanks guys.

I’ve decided just to stick with KDE.

I could prevent xscreensaver from locking the screen, but it did not prevent the lock before suspend. The xfce power manager purportedly runs in LXDE, but when I tried it, it did not respect the settings I wanted.

The KDE power management scheme Just Works for what I need. Anyway, my media box has plenty of grunt and I’ve just gone through and turned off a few un-needed KDE and system services.

If you don’t need screensaver you could just remove xscreensaver from your system - it mighty be much easier when want to have some thin X enviroment.

Yes, that’s an interesting thought…
