Directly after installation.

Hello everyone,

I’m going to install openSUSE, and I was wondering if there is something like a “to do list”. A list with recommend things to do directly after installion.

Or that you got your own tips to give directly after installion

I was hoping if you could give a link to such a list. (Assuming there is one) Or post you own tips here if possible. Any help/tips are appreciated.

Greetings,
Martijn Kouwenhoven

A few things I remember I do in no particular order.

Organize repositories (uncheck DVD, check if OSS, NON-OSS and Update are there, may be add Nvidia. I add KDE3 and KDE3 Backports, Packman, uncheck Videolan, but the list depends on what you want).

Install Nvidia driver, and those things as mentioned for getting mp3 and other sound support, Java.

Configure NTP.

Add local language.

May be update using the KDE repos.

I look at the icons in YaST > Hardware and YaST > System for an “AHA, I should not forget to …”.

> directly after installion.
