Digital clock disappeared (sort of)

So I recently installed Amarok 2.1 through a 1-click install button. I must have used the one under the KDE 4.2 category, though, because it ended up upgrading a bunch of stuff that I had to downgrade afterwards. At first, before the downgrades, a lot of stuff was broken: no global keyboard shortcuts worked (like Alt+Tab and Alt+F2), the digital clock widget on the bottom panel was not showing the time, and KTorrent wasn’t working. Well, after removing the added repository and reversing what I assume was most of the upgrades, nearly everything was working again…

Except for the digital clock.

(Cursor was on blank space, but ksnapshot doesn’t give “show cursor” option)

The date and time show up properly in Personal Settings, but for some reason the widget doesn’t know what’s going on. Any ideas on what might be the problem here?

Post the terminal output of:

That’s IT!
And you are surprised you have problems.

Sorry to be so blunt. But you seriously need to trim down those reops. Do you know what they are all for?
It looks like you have been doing some Oneclick installing!

Why don’t you want to allow yourself to upgrade to 4.2?

My advice is remove all the repo’s except leave ONE of each of the following:

oss (120)
non-oss (120)
updates (99)
packman (99)
nvidia (99)

To upgrade to 4.2
add these
(99) Index of /repositories/KDE:/42/openSUSE_11.1

(99) Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE_42

Now use Software Management and select filter by repo and select the kde42 desktop and do Update all in this list Unconditionally. Then do the same with the Community42.

*N.B.
Your repo priority should be as quoted above in brackets
Just set all to update and refresh too.

Nice, that fixed everything! Thanks a lot!

Ooh, a nice new weather widget. Very good… Amarok 2.1… I’m liking this.

Good. Well done sorting that out.
