I recently installed OpenSUSE with Gnome. I’m using my M2A-VM HDMI motherboards built-in sound. I managed to get analogue audio to work right away but I can’t seem to get any digital output on the S/PDIF.
PS: I’m rather new to Linux…
You may find someone on this forum who can help, and you may not. I can’t help you here.
If it were me, I would install the program xchat, and use that to connect to freenode, IRC #alsa and ask the alsa sound gurus there. One may need to ask 1/2 to 1 dozen times, at different times of the day, before they find someone logged on who knows the answer.
