Anyone any idea why digiKam has not been updated to version 8.2 more than 6 weeks after release? I did a search in Bugzilla but did not recognize anything relevant.
Because the maintainer, who is likely a volunteer, is busy with something in their life? Perhaps it’s failing openQA checks. No idea.
It just looks like nobody has gotten around to submitting it for update. I’m sure they would welcome an SR doing so.
Welcome to the forum !!
You do have the option to run the Discover app and get digiKam 8.2, in the form of a Flatpak
.
Or, looking at the change log in the Factory Build, they’re trying to remove the current dependency which the Digikam package has with Akonadi – currently, when you call digiKam with a user who neither needs nor uses the KDE Plasma PIM, akonadi is executed and a basic Kontact PIM configuration is placed in ‘~/.config/’ plus the associated directories and files in ‘~/.local/share/’.
- There’s an ominous change to the CMake files which may well have an influence on the delay getting the thing packaged …
Okay, thanks for the info.
