digiKam crashes at startup

I am running OpenSuse 12.3 32 bit (up to date as of 4/27/13 3:42 p.m. E.T.), with digiKam version 3.0.0-1.2.1.
The splash screen appears briefly and crashes immediately. These are the repos I have enabled:

All_Pacman
Network
VLC
openSUSE BuildService - Wine CVS Build
openSUSE-12.3-Non-Oss
openSUSE-12.3-Oss
openSUSE-12.3-Update
openSUSE-12.3-Update-Non-Oss

Am I the only one? Does Tumbleweed have a different (working) version of digiKam?

Please run it from a terminal:

digicam

to see if there are any error messages.

And please post that by copying/pasting direct from the termiinal between CODE tags. You get them by clickingthe # button in the toolbar of the post editor.

BTW that is also the way to post something like your repo list. Not by typing it (tedious work and prone to errors), but by doing:

zypper lr -d

and coy/paste it (including the prompts and the command) in bewteen CODE tags.

Known bug.
Please see here:
https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/486274-cant-load-digikam-photo-editor-after-upgrading-gnome-3-8-1-a.html

digikam-3.1.0 from …/repositories/KDE:/Release:/410/openSUSE_12.3/ seems to work (at least the x86_64 version).

I’ll try to do a better job at reporting next time. Thanks for the tips. I upgraded to the version in the test repo (3.1.0-1.7.1) and it is working very well. Thanks a lot guys.

That’s not a solution. Either you move to a newer version of KDE (which includes a newer digikam), or fix the current version of digikam. This is gonna bring trouble.

Why?
The version in the update test repo is exactly what will be released as online update in a few days.
Why should it bring trouble if you install it?

I’ve just happened on this thread in an attempt to solve the same problem. The KR410 repos don’t work for me

I can’t work out what is broke. Happy to put up any info requested

Output from zypper lr -d

Sorry, can’t strip out the smileys: HTML editor ignoring me…

Try to run it in Konsole and post the output you get.
I guess it’s “Illegal instruction”.

If that’s the case, the most likely problem is this: Access Denied
You can find opencv packages that could fix this for you in that bugreport.

Please also post the output of

cat /proc/cpuinfo

as well to verify this.

Doesn’t look like that bug (I can run gwenview plugins without error).
I’ve attached the suggested

terminal output when running digikam:

Right, that’s a different issue then…
You are running digikam as user do you? (not as “root”)

Please post the output of

rpm -qa | grep digikam

then.
