different versions of SUSE

just wondered if Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and opensuse 10 are the same thing or not.

I got two downloads available for suse 10, one is from Novell’s website SLED-10-SP2-x86-DVD1.iso
Anotherone is SUSE-10.0-EvalDVD-i386-GM.iso from Index of /pub/suse/i386/10.0/iso,

and i’m also confused by opensuse 10.2 and these two, don’t know if they are the same stuff.

OpenSUSE is a community distro, whereas anything with Enterprise or Novell in the name are enterprise distros where you pay for support and the emphasis is more on stability than novelty.

Thanks.
BTY, is there any rebuild version of SUSE which is equivelent to CentOS?

openSUSE -> Fedora
? -> CentOS, Scientific Linux
SLES -> RHEL Server
SLED -> RHEL Desktop?

in short, what i’m looking for are substitues for Fedora and CentOS which are free available.

Not that I’m aware of.

as far as i know, no one has taken the SUSE Linux Enterprise
Desktop/Server source and (legally) ripped out its branding and released
and SUPPORTed it as CentOS does its re-branded RedHatD/S…

however, in my humble opinion, if a person were to install and fully
patch/update openSuSE 10.3 s/he would have pretty good desktop and/or
server system which will be supported by updates/patches another 17
months or so…

but, is it as stable, enterprise dependable, upgrade trouble free and
long lasting as SLED/S 10? nope!

i believe SLED/S is good to 2012 or so, for a relatively low annual fee
when compared to systems offerings made by beginning with M or S…

i reckon it might be relatively expensive when compared to systems made
by RH and re-branded…

but, we do not wanna kill the goose with the golden eggs, do we?
