Hi,
would it be an idea to slightly change the layout of the forum categories? I have noticed that I miss nearly all threads posted in sub-forums. like help/hardware/laptop or help/applications/multimedia. These are not expanded and easily browsable by default so I hardly see any posts there.
Would it not be better to change the layout a little like for example more headings like so:
NEWS
tech
staff
…
HELP
install
…
…
APPLICATIONS
multimedia
Windowmanagers
…
…
HARDWARE
laptop
desktop
server
…
…
COMMUNITY
…
…
FORUMS COMMENTS
…
…
etc.
so in short more headings with forum categories below them and no subcategories?

I’d also put in my vote for more categories. This forum is getting rather succesful it seems and the posts in a single categorie are hard to follow, in applications alone the posts of today cover over 4 pages I believe.
and personally I think it would be fun if one could see who is online and how many users are online, this is totally unimportant for the proper functioning of the forum but I’ve seen that elsewhere and noticed I liked that.

Thanks for the suggestions. FYI we brought together all the admins and
moderators and put a lot of thought into the layout of these forums when we
were putting them together based on experience gained in
moderating/administering previous forums. The current layout is what was
agreed to. That’s not to say it can’t be changed, but I think we’ll give
it some time to see how it works. We’ve only been online for two weeks now
which isn’t really enough time to tell if we need to make any adjustments
or not.

You have the option to subscribe to a forum or a thread to keep track of
discussions you are interested in. The search function is also very useful
in this.

Under the QUICK LINKS tab, you’ll see a “Who’s Online” link.
