Different colors between gtk apps and kde apps

Hi,

Out of curiosity, certain colors such as the highlight text are different between the gtk applications and the kde applications.

For example, the firefox highlighting color is a dark blue, but the konqueror highlighting color is the system wide lighter blue

I have installed the kde4-gtk-qt engine, but I’m not sure what the problem is.

I have attached screenshots to show what I mean.

The problem is obviously not a big deal, but hey if there’s a simple solution, why not go for it

From the screenshots it seems gtk-qt engine is not running and gtk apps are using qtcurve (compare scrollbars) which is the default engine for gtk apps running in KDE in opensuse.

gtk-qt is very buggy and seems to be dead. It makes firefox look horrible. For consistent look between gtk and qt apps in KDE4 I recommend to use THIS theme.

  1. Uninstall kde4-gtk-qt

  2. Install kde4-kcm_gtk (if already installed, fine)

  3. Go here and download the zip file. (Direct link)

  4. Extract the zip and copy paste the extracted folder to /usr/share/themes

  5. Go to Configure Desktop → Appearance → GTK Styles and Fonts → select kde4-oxygen from “Use Style” dropdown menu

P.S- for firefox apply this icon theme.

Great thanks for that

Just noticed that radio buttons and check boxes look strange in Firefox with the gtk oxygen theme.
They only show when checked

Thanks alot freedguy,

I’ll take a look at it when I get home from work.

Yea, I noticed that too.

Also, the menu highlights don’t work too well.

Probably stick to gtk-qt engine or the qtcurve.

Thanks for the suggestion though
