differences between repository/ and repository:/

in the http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/ I see many repositories where the only difference is “:”
as network:/ and network/
why this?? what it means??

In some cases I get the feeling it means “Oops, I didn’t mean to call it
that, I’ll think I’ll change it.” Then they forget to dump the old
version. There’s certainly a bit of dross lying around.

I expect that’s not the official version so best to wait for someone
more knowledgeable and less cynical than me.
