did udev changed in 11.3 for printers?

I have a little problem with my Samsung CLP-300 color laser printer (usb wired).

Works as always, in opensuse (that means, nearly perfect, just color a bit problematic if printing in good quality).

But since the upgrade (by means of zypper) to 11.3, in VirtualBox (not OSE, the one with USB support), the printer appears greyed (not the rest of USB devices), so that I cannot use it from the wndows inside VirtualBox (which is the only way to do a real high-quality printing).

Does not seems to be a problem with VirtualBox (the resto of USB are properly detected and connected), but of any type of change that I cannot guess in the way udev manages the printer, so that this USB connection works in a different way from the rest (and from what it did in 11.2). That’s why I post that here and not in software subsection. I think it’s the proper place. If not, please, tell me.

The dmesg output when I tur on the printer is the following one:

[352074.297027] usb 1-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
[352074.411969] usb 1-4: New USB device found, idVendor=04e8, idProduct=3272

[352074.414320] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 4 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04E8 pid 0x3272

I cannot find nothing that gives me a clue of what’s happening…

Any ideas?

Thanks

Adding your user to the lp group will usually fix that.

Oh, my! Such a simple solution! That worked… I was crazy looking for permissions, and groups, and was just the lp one… :-S But something must be different 'cause in 11.2 it was not necessary. Anycase, it’s done.

Thanks a lot!!!
