# grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

That assumes that you are using “grub2” or “grub2-efi”.

In this case, it might not actually matter whether you run that command, though it won’t hurt.

Run “update-bootloader --refresh” - that is what mkinitrd calls. Post any errors here. Also update-bootloader logs into /var/log/pbl.log - you may show entries related to when you run your command (all lines are prefixed with timestamp).
