I would still like to get it running.
When the last hurricane hit Texas, cell phones were out for 2 days in my area.
Guess what was still working ?

But he quoted a message talking of smpppd. He can not switch subjects
and expect people to follow.
Andy, if you need help with nntp on the forums, please say so, and in
the appropriate forum. There is one for support on the forum itself. I
don’t know the exact name on the web side.

I agree. He does tend to mix topics within threads. It’s not the first time that he has been reminded about that. It does have the potential to confuse the discussion make providing useful support a challenge.

I went thru all the questions and answers.
Someone got me sidetracked on nntp which has nothing to do with an operating system detecting a modem and associated programs that use the modem to dial out or send faxes or be able to be used as a telephone.

You complained/commented that reading the messages here was very slow,
because of your slow connection. I suggested you use NNTP on these
forums because it is faster on slow connections. If you want help with
that, please ask on a different thread on the forum support forum.

You are not answering my question.
It looks like you are holding a grudge.
I teach children who have more manners and respect than seen here.
I think you need to grow up a bit more.
