Dia crash

Hi everybody,

I am using Dia program to make some presentation. The program crashes so often and though if i forget to save all my work is gone. Is there any fix for this problem? or is there any better program to use?

regards,

i learned this rule from an old man who already had loads of years
experience with computers, in the early '90s:

“Save early and often!”
[Jerry Pournelle <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Pournelle>]

in most applications Ctrl+s saves…so, it is so simple…just get in
the habit of hitting Ctrl+s Early and Often.

sorry i don’t have an actual answer to your question of what to use
instead of Dia, but i might mention that i’ve not heard crowds of
folks complain about Dia crashing so often…

maybe you should have a look at WHY it is crashing…

if you open a desktop terminal (Konsole or similar) and type in and
enter dia

the Dia application should open…LEAVE the Konsole open and if/when
you get a crash there might be some error messages in the terminal
that (if copied and pasted back to here) might be useful in
determining the problem…

but, you also need to tell us some stuff:

what version of what operating system do you have installed
what desktop environment are you using
what version of Dia are you using
are you having problems with other applications crashing also, which?

did Dia (or other) crashes begin right from your initial install of
the current OS (or Dia)? or did it start after some days, weeks
months? after an update/upgrade? hardware change? memory addition? what??
