SLES10 SP3
DHCPd v3.0.7
Kernel 2.6.16.60
Server virtualized with XEN on SLES11
On the rcnovell-dhcpd command, the following error is displayed:
“Socket address family not supported by protocol - make sure CONFIG_PACKET
(Packet Socket) and CONFIG_FILTER (Socket Filtering) are enabled in your
kernel configuration.”
The kernel config includes CONFIG_PACKET (Packet Socket) as part of the
kernel.
However, CONFIG_FILTER is no longer supported in the 2.6 kernel. IP
FILTERING is
included as part of the kernel.
What needs to be included in a 2.6 kernel for DHCPD to run?
Assistance and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
As a SUSE Linux Enterprise customer you will probably be better-benefited
using the SLE forums hosted on forums.novell.com instead of forums.opensuse.org. It may be useful to include whether you are fully
virtualized or paravirtualized.
Good luck.

Did post it there. Only help was a suggestion to restart the machine.
The server is paravirtualized on SLES11.
