Hi,
I was wondering if it’s possible to have different wallpapers for my 4 desktops (desktop cube)?
Thomas
In KDE configuration >> desktop >> virtual desktops
Set to 4
Back to your desktop… rightclick >> desktop settings
On the top you will see: setting for desktop 1 and a pull-down menu for 2, 3 & 4.
if im not mistaken it won’t work with compiz
your just stuck with 1 background unless they changed something since the last time i tryed it
Using GNOME, I have also read somwhere that it is not possible if you run compiz
Thomas
It is very possible if you run Compiz go to the settings manager and under desktop or desktop cube you can set your wallpaper, and add multiple wallpapers.
Sorry for not beeing very precise but I don’t run Compiz at the moment.
This solution is off course dependent upon not having GNOME or KDE to control your wallpapers. Which also means you cannot have icons on your desktop.
I had a look, but it seems that this option has been changed/removed (at least doing it the easy way).
It’s a shame… like the wonderful screensaver that let the cube rotate…
Here is what I found:
Full Text Search: “wallpaper” - Compiz Fusion Wiki
&
Plugins/Wallpaper - Compiz Fusion Wiki
The last one is in the ‘plugins extra’ set.
I will try later no time now, but it sounds like it could work
it is possible to change it in compiz so you can have multiple desktops. you need to change the virtual size of the desktop (or something like that, in the general tab, been a while since i used compiz fusion.
Plugins/Wallpaper - Compiz Fusion Wiki
Configuration
Enable true blending - Enable alpha blending of backgrounds. The ability to disable this is included to slightly improve speed when not using transparent wallpapers (they will not sync with the cube, however)
Hmmm, looks like its not going to happen
Strange because when I turn off my PC and as usual give my mouse a push, it landed in the upper-leftcorner of my DeskTop and showed the four DT’s each with their own wallpaper !
So why this cannot be so all the time… must be a small adjustment somewhere.
To me it looks like not setting a KDE settings wallpaper but full transparency… what code is that again ?
