Please can someone offer some help with this strange issue!
I used to run dual-display but one of the monitors broke so i have removed it and cancelled the dual-head mode in yast > display.
However, since doing that, i can not change the background picture!!
I have tried
1.
setting to 1 virtual desktop
change picture or select “none”
save
not worked
setting to multiple virtual desktops
changed picture on each desktop
save
not worked, all desktops get the same picture, despite the preview showing different images!
Is there a file i can rename/delete to fool the system into thinking nothing’s been defined for the desktop image/# of virtual desktops and so on?
I am sorry if this does not make sense, it’s quite a strange problem!!
I am just guessing here but you can try if you want. In your /home/.kde/cached-linux-your user, try renaming it and logout login if it work you can delete the renamed files. There is also /home/.kde/tmp-your user I don’t know if it is also relevant.
hello conram, thank you for your suggestions
I have tried this, rebooted the machine and the desktop still refuses to change
in /home/badger_fruit/.kde/cache-bgrmedia03/background
there are two files:
badger_fruit@bgrmedia03:~/.kde/cache-bgrmedia03/background> ls
1280x1024_bm_0;en_1ca_4278202498;wm_6;wp_#usr#share#wallpapers#konqui.svgz_1220206105;blm_0;01.png
74x59_bm_0;en_1ca_4278202498;wm_6;wp_#usr#share#wallpapers#konqui.svgz_1220206105;blm_0;01.png
but neither are the image that is displayed!
very strange and very annoying, i did want to upgrade to suse 11.1 and i suppose it’ll give the opportunity to do so now. sigh would be good if anyone’s got any other things to try first as i’m loathesome to having to loose all my personal settings etc just over a background image that won’t change!
