Desktop PC occasionally fails to enter sleep mode

My desktop PC running Tumbleweed occasionally fails to enter sleep mode: the screen switches off (so I do not suspect that something went wrong) but the PC fans are still working as I discovered this morning. This doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s already maybe third time it fails this way. Has anyone experienced that? Any way to troubleshoot this?

Yes. Sometimes I put it to sleep and it bounces back to the lock screen right away.

New suse user here, unfortunately I have no tips on how to solve it, only that like with most issues similar to that a reboot fixes it.

What is the motherboard model?

The motherboard is MSI X570 Unify.

I’m glad that I’m not the only one experiencing this. I don’t know if that would the an issue on another distro, but I’ve noticed this as of late with Tumbleweed.

Try the following:
1- Switch on the computer;
2- Open the UEFI configurations;
3- Just exit UEFI and let the OS boot up;
4- Test if sleeping works;
5- If it works, only reboot and test again.

Please, report the results.

I discovered what was causing sleep to fail sometimes here: An app – then nvidia, but that’s a different can of worms.

I found dmesg after a failed sleep very helpful, it promptly pointed out the guilty part .
