Hi guys, i’m new in this forum since my professor installed opensuse leap 42.2 in double boot with windows on my samsung np900x3e, and installed a software developed by him to allow me working on my thesis, and it was all working ok.
this evening i had the stupid idea of installing synaptics driver from yast to modify some touchpad options. yast asked me to overwrite or unistall something and i said yes not really understanding what i was doing.
the system didn’t shut down so i shut it down manually since nothing seemed to happen (pushing the button I/O) and then, when i rebooted the pc it goes on a black screen with a white underscore on the top left angle of the screen. i’ve tried to use Ctrl+Alt+F7 to return to graphical desktop or init 5 but seems not working on graphical desktop. on prompt it works fine, but i don’t know how to get back to previous install of drivers or whatever, like a “hey i know i made a disaster, can we go back in time and start again?”
Also you may be able to boot to a terminal by at the boot screen pressing e then finding the line starting linux or linuxefi going to the full end (it wraps) add a space and a 3 F10 to continue to a terminal log in
You can run yast by typing yast as root
You can run zypper also
Were did you get the package you installed and how was it installed??
Hi guys!!
I didnt know that, but i can’t select the output, i’m in line command, i can’t see the mouse.
I’m pretty sure my desktop is KDE, i installed the first one in the list.
To be more precise, it seems that opesuse attempts to go in desktop mode by Ctrl+Alt+F6 or F7 i don’t remember, or by init5, and a totally black screen appears with the undescore in top left corner, and then it returns to prompt mode (this name is correct?).
i can post the output of the code by an image since i can’t select the output text: (language is italian, si is yes and no is no :)) https://s28.postimg.org/o65yahjw9/output.jpg](https://postimg.org/image/o65yahjw9/)
for snapper if somebody tell me how to use it in prompt mode thanks! i installed synaptics from yast since i thought it was safe, but i was wrong…
maybe i can try to run yast from root and uninstall last packages that ruined everything
thanks guys snapper rollback did work so i don’t know what happened but i used snapper to boot from before i made the disaster, so everything is ok now!
thank you guys!
