Just upgraded from 12.1 to 12.2. Everything looking great so far, except for one minor annoyance: every time I log in (i.e after a reboot) I have to change my Desktop setting from “Folder View” to something else, click Apply/OK, and then set it back to “Folder View”, click Apply/OK, so as to get KDE it to actually display the contents of the Desktop folder on the Desktop. That is, even though “Folder View” is already set as my default setting when I boot, it needs to be ‘reminded’ of this by changing the setting to something else and then back again.
I just use the folder view widget, which is working fine.
What you are doing should work, though I haven’t tried it.
Here’s a suggestion
1: logout from KDE.
2: Use CTRL-ALT-F1 to get a virtual console. Login there.
3: Do the following:
cd /var/tmp
rm -rf kdecache-$USER
4: logout from virtual console
5: Use CTRL-ALT-F7 (or CTRL-ALT-F8 if that does not work) to get back to the GUI login screen.
6: login to KDE
I have had problems in the past where stale information is save in that kdecache, and cleaning it out help. I’m not sure whether it will solve your problem, but it is at least worth a try.
I do not logout/reboot often enough to try this just now, but what happens if refress the “folder view” window. I mean right-click and refresh.
