Where is Shortcut Key for setting to change the default from Shft+Meta? So far I’m not able to find it in System Settings | Shortcuts. Reason being is, when using OBS I capture a VM where I need to draw on the screen, but when I change change back to the main desktop, I need to draw there also. So I need to change the VM Shortcut Key.
You don’t mention which Desktop you’re using …
- KDE Plasma, GNOME, something else?
Given KDE Plasma, <Meta-Shift> as such isn’t defined for anything …
- <Meta+Tab> shuffles between Activities.
- <Meta+Shift+Tab> shuffles in the other direction between Activities.
- Holding the Meta key down, opens the Start menu …
Its KDE, below the Settings it says. “Draw with the mouse by holding Shift+Meta keys and moving the mouse”. Is this hard coded, because I can’t find where to change it?
Do you mean that, this is a feature of OBS?
Or, is this a feature of a VM?
- Which VM?
I’m only referring to KDE, the OBS was given as a reason why I need to change the keyboard short-cut. This feature is KDE’s Workspace Behavior | Desktop Effects | Mouse Mark. I’m beginning feel like its hard coded in the GUI, because I can’t find where to change it.
Found it!
- System Settings, right hand end of the “Mouse Mark” entry field – there’s a “Settings” symbol which is sometimes hard to see – width and colour and “remove Mouse Marks” global shortcuts …
- Box at the left hand end of the entry field – disable/enable the feature …

But, you’re correct – there ain’t no way to change the “Shift+Meta” shortcut – even by trying to define a new Global Shortcut …
- You may have to write a KDE Plasma Bug Report.
Okay, I will do that. Thanks for your help!..
Just filed it today and found it was reported “Mark has no user-definable shortcut, hard-coded one interferes with others” back in 2014/2018. Wonder why is was not fixed, but I sure need it.
Please vote on that Bug Report, add yourself to the CC: list and, add a comment to “wake up” the Bug Report.
- If you do not do anything, nothing will move …
Thanks, I just did…
