Desktop Config / Login settings overwritten

In a fresh Leap installation I can turn off Autologin in Login Settings but this is apparently overwritten on shutdown+boot with the On setting. (Also desktop sessions are not or not completely saved but I don’t know if this is related).

I’m pretty sure the setting was done because I had to give the root password. So what dares to switch it back, and how do I prevent that?

Regards,

Try:

Yast → System → “/etc/sysconfig” editor
→ Desktop → Displaymanager → DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN

Working around the issue with an autorun script containing the line

qdbus org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver /ScreenSaver Lock

but this doesn’t answer the question.
