I’ve filed a bug: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1058482 to report the problem I’m having with font corruption in the Plasma Desktop apps - text spontaneously becomes corrupted. This seems to affect only Plasma (KDE5) apps - most often the Desktop icon titles and the task bar text - and never non-Plasma apps such as emacs or Konsole. I tried fiddling with the anti-aliasing settings but it didn’t seem to fix the problem and impacted apps like emacs that didn’t need fixing.
Is there any secret to getting someone to look at the bug? Seems like nothing ever happens when I file a bug. (I filed a different bug against KDE5 bugzilla with no action after several months.)
I really miss OpenSUSE 13.2/KDE 4 - it was rock solid. 42.2 is an unstable annoyance. (No, I’m not going to switch back to KDE4 - I want to use a “stock” installation or at least as close as possible.)
There is no such thing a a “Plasma (KDE5) app”.
And Konsole does use KDE Frameworks 5 as well.

I did look at it, but had no idea what to do about it.
It’s definitely no “bug” in openSUSE’s KDE packages though.

Well, the bugs you reported might be very special…
E.g. I never saw something like you describe on any of my systems and probably most other users neither. (although I do remember sporadically corrupted fonts in KDE4, mostly in GTK applications, so there you go)
And of course you are not the only one who files bug reports, people might be busy with other stuff, …
Don’t forget that openSUSE is a community distribution, and KDE is a community project.
Many people working on it are volunteers and do so unpaid in their spare time.
(how much did you pay for it anyway?)
It’s likely a graphics driver problem somehow though I think.
Try to boot with nomodeset and it shouldn’t happen I suppose (of course that would not be a real fix).
You might try to upgrade to 42.3 (which also comes with newer graphics drivers, and a slightly newer Qt5), 42.2 will be out of support in January anyway.
Ah, I recognize the distortion. I had that too every now and then on 42.2, but now I use 42.3 (trigger was Firefox updates for 42.2 stopped in mozzila repo).
Only on window titlebars, though (I have no desktop icons). When it happened, it was usually Firefox, but also other windows.
I vaguely seem to remember I had the distortion in 42.3 as well, but I’m not sure. When I see it again, I’ll add to the bug report.
Do you use DejaVu Sans for the window titlebar font?
