Dell Inspiron 1521 + OpenSUSE 11.0

Hello.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 (ATI Radeon Xpress 1270) and finished installation of OpenSUSE 11.0 (AMD64). Graphics won’t work. Any problem with this graphic card?. It’s compatible?.

Does your X (GUI) start or are you loading to the text console?

Ifso, you could try installing the latest driver from the ATI site : Drivers & Software

Also see here for helpful hints and tips : ATI - openSUSE
(when installing the driver yourself, not using the one-click, you are doing it ‘the hard way’ as referred to on the howto page)

Ok. It’s works.

  1. Ctrl+Alt+F1 and login as “root”
  2. “init 3”
  3. cp ati-*.bin /home/me
  4. sh ati-*.bin and follow instructions
  5. sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx
  6. “init 5”
    …and done.
