Dell Inspirion 7352 - Touchscreen Supported But Touchpad Not Working

Hey, all - I’m new to OpenSUSE and Linux in general, so my apologies if this is a (relatively) simple issue. I just got a new Dell Inspirion 7352 laptop and installed the newest stable version of OpenSUSE on it - KDE desktop. This laptop is a 2-in-1 with both a touchscreen and touchpad. I’m finding that the KDE Touchpad Enabler Daemon only allows for one “touchpad” at a time - and right now that is my touchscreen. I’ve been looking at some of the KDE settings, KDE/OpenSUSE documentation and different forums to try to resolve this issue - it looks like others have laptops with touchscreen and touchpad, but I haven’t seen anyone with this problem before.

  • Synaptiks does not offer touchscreen/multiple touchpad options or support
  • The KDE Touchpad Enabler Daemon does not have an option to select which “touchpad” is being used
  • The YaST hardware section does not appear to have any “touchpad” options either
  • The touchscreen and mouse work fine together

I’d like to be able to use both my touchscreen and touchpad interchangeably (as well as eventually figure out how to get touchscreen keyboard to work while I’m in tablet-mode), so any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
