just noticed today that my laptop wont power off it just more less reboots or what seems to power off then few sec its turning on and booting up…It did not have that issue till a few recent updates one may been a recent kernel update. System worked as a charm till this lil issue.
I have to hold in the actual power button for it to power off
Im going to see if I can downgrade ver of the kernel till the mystery is solved.
Dell e1505
Linux 2.6.27.21-0.1-default i686
4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) “release 4.10.4”
downgrade didnt help. I did notice too that this dell MediaDirect shows a short spash background, just before grub starts to boot up That never use to show.
Would hitting that media direct button casue a foul up in the power down issue as well?
Are you dual booting the system at all( do you have windows and linux on the same drive)…
if you are that might be the problem. if not you might have to reinstall or recover to an earlier driver to fix the issue…
No just opensuse 11.2 only on the system.
I got it to stop. Not sure what I did to stop it… Worked grand. Till today. I noticed its back again preventing a full power down.
