I am using SUSE 11.0 I dont know which settings I made but for one of the user I am not able to see the blue bar which has minimize, maximize, close bar.
I tried to replace .bashrc other related files by creating new user but the problem still exists.
Kindly help me to know what are the user profile related files and what might be the cause for this.
I suppose it is a problem with composite-effects, try switching them off to test that. If it is working then, some option in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf is missing, so please post it.
Thanks for the support its happening in every application for the user but for other user thats not the case. yes I am using Compiz. As per /etc/X11/xorg.conf is consider i did not touch that file.
I copied /etc/X11/xorg.conf.install file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf but still the problem persists. then i created a new user and checked there every thing is working fine.
Bashrc is the config for the bash shell not the GUI!
If just one user then something has gone wrong in the users gnome configuration. The fastest and easiest way to correct is to rename ~/.gnome to ~/.gnome.old where ~ iws the problem user home directory. boot you change to a terminal log in as root
mv /home/usersnamehere/.gnome /home/usersnamehere/.gnome.old
reboot
log in as the problem user you will have to reset up the GUI to the users liking.
Hi
Normally this happens when desktop effects are enable and the window
decoration check box has not been set in Compiz Config Settings
Manager (ccsm).
To ensure desktop effects are disabled, logout, then press ctrl+alt+F1
and login as your user, then;
I had some equal looking problems in older versions.
OpenSUSE 11.2 was the first version for me
with compiz desktop effects from the start running
and without even temporally the ‘seeing no window bar’ problem.
