I am running openSUSE 11.3 on a Lenovo S10 netbook. I have the default panel that is installed with the Slab etc at the bottom of the screen set to autohide. However, it does not do this consistently. Sometimes I have to minimize and then maximize an app window to get it to hide again.
Any thoughts? I’m wondering if I should submit this as a bug.
sometimes (i have found by accident/experience) it is worthwhile to do
something like this:
-you have it set to auto-hide, so before out next set it to NOT auto-hide
-then, when you start up it shouldn’t but set it to auto-hide
-sometimes that works, i do not know why…sometimes it won’t work…
and, i have seen that work for a variety of little desktop
problems…it is like some file somewhere is not getting the right
stuff saved to it…and, changing it to something you don’t want kinda
gets its attention!
if the problem persists, i would wiggle the switch that allows a
window to cover the panel, or not, in the same way…and, maybe
slightly enlarge or reduce the size of the panel…etc…but ONE thing
at a time…
if it still hangs on and sometimes doesn’t auto-hide i’d say write a
bug…but the FIRST step of that is to search the bugzilla data base
to see if the bug is already there…(and, if so you can add to it by
telling about your hardware/DE/etc, see: http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports

The netbook comes with Intel 950 gma graphics. I did not install any drivers myself. The drivers are what openSUSE installed. Compiz was also turned on by default and seems to be working. Should I be looking elsewhere for a newer driver?
