I installed Open Suse 11.3
When I try to install a local printer with CUPS, the installation is successful but at the moment to launch a test print does not leave any documents, despite indications of printing done.
If I try to relaunch a print error message appears: “Unsupported format ‘application / vnd.cups-command’”… :’(

Sorry to hear of this problem. I must ask the questions:
- Model and Brand of Printer
- How is it connected: USB, LPT, Wired Network, Wireless?
- Did you load any special printer driver or is it built in to CUPs?
- Did you install the printer with root authority?
- Any reason why you are still using openSUSE 11.3 as 11.4 is the most recent version? (openSUSE 11.3 is still supported here)
Thank You,
Well,
- HP LaserJEt 1020
- USB
- It’s buit in to Cups
- I installed it with root authority
- All the pc in my company using OPenSUse 11.3. If you think that the problem is this version I can try to install 11.4 version. But…we have 400 pc!!
Thanks!
So, you are not using hplip? I normally suggest you use hplip for HP printers. I run the command when using KDE (you did not mention your desktop) as:
Alt-F2 (or menu Run Command) kdesu hp-setup
Have you tried using this method before?
Thank You,
No, i didn’t try it…
I’ll try tomorrow … I hope it works!!
I’ll let you know
thanks a lot

Well,
I run the command kdesu hp-setup but it continue do not work.
In my cups.log I see:
“15/Jul/2011:08:43:11 +0200] PID 3211 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups) crashed on signal 6!”
there are no updates current
See if this command (as root) picks up any problems
hp-check -t
Very interesting deano_ferrari. I ran the following command on my setup:
hp-check -t
It came up with 10 errors, some were only an error if you were doing a compile of the driver, but six claimed to be required while it is in use. This is not being picked up when the hplip file comes pre-installed in openSUSE for some reason though, printing was working just fine. Perhaps some are required when using the built-in scanner, but I don’t know. I had one dependency for usb that I could not make the program hp-check happy with. When run, my PC said it was up-to-date, but the check program thought otherwise.
Summary of needed commands to run to satisfy missing dependencies:
su -c "zypper --non-interactive --no-gpg-checks in --auto-agree-with-licenses libusb-1_0-devel libusb-1_0-0"

Nothing to do.
Otherwise, my hplip setup is now fully good it would seem.
Thank You,
