Cups did not work after zypper dup. Solved that but my SII SL650 does not work anymore

Hi.
I had this bug:
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1283295
and solved it by a manual install of the new packages:

wget https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Printing/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/x86_64/cups-filters2-2.0.1-7.1.x86_64.rpm

wget https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Printing/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/x86_64/cups-filters2-driverless-2.0.1-7.1.x86_64.rpm

sudo rpm -Uvh cups-filters2-2.0.1-7.1.x86_64.rpm cups-filters2-driverless-2.0.1-7.1.x86_64.rpm

The network printer works again but my little thermo-printer Seiko SII SL650 seems to have problems with the new cupfilters.

Is it not supported anymore?

Johannes Meixner answered in the bug yesterday already, and a fix is on the way. But it might take a day or two until it arrives in Tumbleweed.

I know.
I did the fix manually and cups works now again.
But the one printer is still not working so i am looking for a solution for the SL650.

I’m not familiar with this printer, but some diagnostic information might be useful. I assume it was working for you prior to the latest update you did?

Enable CUPS debug logging with sudo cupsctl --debug-logging, then try printing to the SL650. Check /var/log/cups/error_log for the messages from that print attempt. It can contain lengthy output (sometimes I delete the file before sending a print job). Something like the following might help filter for something pertinent to the issue hopefully…

grep -Ei 'error|fail|filter|backend' /var/log/cups/error_log

Debug logging can be disabled with sudo cupsctl --no-debug-logging
