I just found something weird: sddm-greeter is always working here?
Does it make any sense? Since the X is failing, shouldn’t it simply stop? 
I’ll give lightdm a shot now.
Edited: removed sddm (2 packages) and added lightdm (15 packages): still not working, the very same state.
Do you think we can get better luck with a clean install, stepwise guided?
