CTRL SHIFT ESC un-stalled a stalled install.

I decided to give 11 a try yesterday and backed up the data files on the 10.3 and then burned the DVD ISO. No problems and when I came back last night and started the install, everything proceeded fine until a stall at 25%. I left it running overnight to see if it was just being picky about a bad spot in the DVD and I was too tired to continue to stay up. No movement forward this morning and had too much on plate to troubleshoot it, so I rebooted, zeroed HD once again and when I came back this afternoon and started the procedure ounce more, it stalled again.

This time I waited and listened and watched for activity. I noticed that the HD spun up and down occasionally, and so I decided to see if the mouse movement was a good sign or not. Disconnected USB mouse waited and then reconnected and still have mouse movement. Figured I would try a few keystrokes again and nothing. I then tried key combos and would wait after each one and nothing. Then, out of sheer Windows instinct, I hit CTRL, SHIFT, and ESC and like lightening, the install proceeded.

The system is an ACER mainboard P4 2.8GHz, 1GB PC2700 RAM (1 stick), ATi Radeon 350 Video Card, WDC 120JD SATA, Logitech USB Wireless KyBd, with 10/100 on MB and an added iNTEL GB NIC. The package at the 25% was OpenSwan.

Any ideas as to why?
