Creating multiple network profiles?

I’ve been having trouble trying to switch between different network settings on my laptop. (Newly installed 11.0/GNOME btw). I regularly have to switch between using DHCP at one location to using different static ip’s at two different locations. What I would really like is something similar to how Mac OS X handles it, where you can create different “location” profiles and assign ip/network/dns/gateway settings to each location, and then just select which profile you want to activate when you need to.

I really only need this for my onboard ethernet, I’m not too concerned about the wifi.

It seems that people have been having a lot of problems managing these settings with Network Manager.

This is my first experiment with running linux too.

Thank you for your help.

i’ve a cable and a wifi connection at home,and wlan isn’t mine
when i open firefox it works on cable connection, then i connect the wifipen and as soon as it finds the lane with the mouse right button i can open another window working on the wlan.
why do you need two ones?
downloading?

Have you tried the Profile Manager (SCPM) in Yast=> System? You can use it to define different network setups (and much, much more).

System Configuration Profile Management - openSUSE

You probably want to install sumf to administer it more easily. Basically you create a profile that uses your settings for one set-up, then you change your settings to the other, create a new profile, and then you can switch between them.
