Creating gateway server

Hello,

I have openSUSE 11.2 installed and i need to create a gateway server that allows virtual private network connections.

I want to play with my friends some lan games, but we are in different networks, so i want to create this gateway server so we can connect with VPN clients to this server and play freely.

These are two different things which don’t serve the same purpose.

You start by digging for aluminium ore and silicium.
Your question is much too broad, not knowing what your starting point is.
It’s like asking how to start a formula-1 team in a petrol-heads forum.

Ok … ill explain the whole situation, my english is very bad so ... i dont know if you`ll understand everything.

I want to share files and play games with some of my friends using a virtual private network (other than hamachi).
We are all with different ISP …
I need to create a VPN server (trying to do that in openSUSE), and me and my friends, to connect to that server with VPN clients, so we can share/play freely, without any restrictions.

Is that possible?

Of course it is, but you still haven’t told us what it is you want to know.
You don’t expect us to just devise a specific setup for you from scratch
do you?

For starters I can refer you to http://www.openvpn.net for the VPN server
and client documentation. OpenVPN is in the openSUSE repository, so a simple
‘zypper in openvpn’ should give you the software to start.
Their website has enough examples for you to make a workable VPN tunnel, and
extending the basic setup with more elaborate features isn’t that difficult
either.

Read up on the documentation for openVPN, and try out some stuff. If after
that you still have questions, you know where we are.
